Imitability and Flexibility

Apple has always invested in new technologies, weather that be buying smaller up and coming companies, or the many patents they file every month. They do this in an attempt to stay ahead of the curve in the tech industry and to have “rare and costly-to-imitate flexibility. As Apple is very secretive consumers rarely know what is about to come out but there are always the occasional leaks and guesses. Some of these would be the rumored Apple iCar, Apple iTV, and there are even rumors coming out of what the Apple iPhone 7 will look like.

Apple must always stay on top of its game in the patent world so they can insure that their products will be hard to imitate. This will keep them flexible.

(On a side not, I was unaware that all posts had to be on one company. The syllabus does not specify but the assignment does. All posts will be about Apple from here on out).
